Large Antique Trunk/ Ottoman in Dark Blue & Designer Printed Velvet with Original Details
This is a such a beautiful old antique trunk, it’s very large and practical but with such a gorgeous design too! It’s been lovingly upcycled with its original antique features still on display and highlighted, but then mixed with a gorgeous new design to bring it right up to date. Thanks to this full upcycle inside and out, it’s gone from a tired old dated trunk to a stunning statement piece, that’s now sure to be the focal point in any room. It’s ready to be loved for generations again. Plus there’s not another like it - it’s a one of one, and you just don’t get unique, bespoke items like this on the high street. This could be used as an ottoman, storage box, hallway seat, bench seat, toy box, end of bed storage trunk… so many possibilities as it’s very versatile with a large storage space and a seated top.
This extra large trunk is an antique piece of furniture and is very large, solid and heavy. The original oak sides have beautiful patterned detailing that really gives the piece character. This piece features a stunning velvet fabric design, by British designer Becca Who. The fabric covers the seated cushioned top, which has also been updated with a new foam cushion so it’s really plush and comfortable. Meaning that you can use this ottoman as a seat or bench too. The velvet fabric elevates the overall design by adding an additional layer of luxury and depth. The fabric - which is a favourite of ours from Becca Who - is called ‘Balloon Safari’ and depicts exactly that. The colour is predominately blues, with lots of complimentary colours throughout the design. The wooden body of the piece has been stripped back and sanded smooth, then professionally painted a lush deep dark blue called ‘Raven’, then sealed for longevity. There’s a touch of gold on the rims around the feet, with the front feet left bare to show a peak of the original oak wood for contrast. The feet have been treated in rejuvenating wax. We think it all marries together with the fabric beautifully. The inside has been transformed too. There’s blue velvet lining the top of the lid and 3 sides of the base. The wooden panelled sides were left as the original oak wood to show some of the character inside, the wood has all been treated and rejuvenated with professional wood wax/oil products and so smells amazing inside! An additional brass lid stop has been added to help hold the weight of the top when opening. We’ve also added new brass hinges, and new antique brass style cup handles to each side - which really help when moving or lifting the item. During the process the entire piece has been stripped, sanded smooth, thoroughly cleaned, painted, finished and sealed by hand and using professional products.

* This is a vintage piece of furniture that has been upcycled, it is not brand new. This means it may have some minor marks/ dents/ blemishes on it from age related wear and tear. It is part of the items character and history. I do pride myself on the finish I achieve when restoring an item so any marks should be very minor. Any antique glass or mirrors may have small scratches or a patina due to age again but nothing major. I do not accept refunds due to this nature.
